This succulent perennial will grow to about 1.5' tall and 2' wide. It has curved, bluish gray leaves that are about 3.5" long and very slender.

The large amount of flamboyant color on this species creates a wonderful accent in a garden. Varieties can be in bush or vine form; colors vary. Once established, they tend to be carefree. All varieties are susceptible to frost damage. The 'Barbara Karst' variety blooms bright red in full sun; more crimson if in shade. It blooms early and long. It is senstive to frost and will die back hard but comes back in a number of weeks. Be carefeul of this in the Santa Ynez Valley.

This perennial will reach about 4' tall and has significant green leaves with clusters of yellow flowers.

Dudleya brittonii is a succulent with a large open rosette of waxy leaves. This plant will grow 15" high and produces pale yellow flowers on 35" stems.

This ground cover will grow less than 1' tall and has small leaves that vary in color and are brownish bronze in the fall. Red and yellow flowers will bloom in spring and summer.

Botanical name:Agave bovicornuta

This succulent will grow at a moderate rate to 3' x 3-4'. It has an open rosette form and dark green leaves edged with decorative reddish brown teeth. The tips of the leaves are very sharp. Somewhat cold sensitive. After many years, yellow flowers appear on a stalk late winter to spring. Like most agaves, it will die after flowering, but it will form offsets. Does best with partial shade. Susceptible to Agave Snout Weevil. Native to Sonora and Chihuahua.

Norfolk Island Pine, Star Pine

This very large tree will grow to about 100' tall and 60' wide with narrow, sharp leaves that are a deep, dark green. It is a popular Christmas tree in Hawaii. It is a good indoor plant with sunny exposures.

Crassula ovata is an evergreen shrub that grows to 2' to10' tall and 3' to 6' wide with light green leaves. It like full sun, low watering, and will live in any type of well drained soil.

This attractive flowering plant produces large tight clusters that are tubular in form and are surrounded by colored bracts. Therefore, a very colorful artichoke or thistle will bloom. As cut flowers, their color will endure for weeks, and their shape will remain long afterward.
